Taking the RIBO Course to Become a General Insurance BrokerTaking the RIBO Course to Become a General Insurance Broker
The ribo course is the first step to becoming a general insurance broker in Ontario. It will prepare you to write the RIBO Level 1 licensing exam. This allows you to sell habitational (home and auto) insurance, travel and liability coverage in Ontario. You must pass this exam and find employment with a general brokerage firm to get your RIBO license.
Once you have your RIBO Level 1, you can work as an insurance broker but only under supervision of a licensed Level 2 or higher broker. If you want to become the Principal Broker and run your own brokerage, you will need a RIBO Level 3 license which requires passing the RIBO Unrestricted Management exam.
