Immunohistochemistry (IHC) is one lab technique that a pathologist may use to help determine the type and prognosis of disease after a biopsy. The test uses antibodies that bind to antigens in the tissue sample and highlights the protein’s location in the cells with a dye or enzyme, such as DAB chromogenic staining or fluorescent antibody-antigen labelling. This allows for precise identification of proteins within a biopsy tissue sample and provides valuable information that aids the care team in making decisions about treatment. URL bosterbio.com
